Radon information session with Tom Jarvela, founder of the Radon Library

Did you know that  30% of NH homes have elevated levels of radon, a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that can't be seen or smelled. Come learn from NH resident Tom Jarvela as he discusses the importance of testing your home for radon, and learn not only how to do so but ways to mitigate levels should you need to.

Please note that the Library has recently acquired a home radon detector test thanks to the Friends of the Library. It's available to check out as part of our Tools & Toys collection.

About Tom Jarvela:

In the fall of 2021, New Hampshire resident Tom Jarvela discovered high levels of radon in
his home that had been there for nearly a decade and was able to make changes to mitigate
the levels. Since then, he has launched a program called the Radon Library
(https://www.radonlibrary.com/home) with the goal of educating New Hampshire
residents about the importance of testing and working collaboratively with local
communities to add radon detectors to every library in Rockingham County.
