Hampstead Public Library is seeking to hire a Programming and Social Media Coordinator Position
This position is part-time; 20 hours per week which includes Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, Tuesday 12:00pm-8:00pm, every other Saturday - 9:00am-3:00pm and the first Wednesday of every month – 9:00-12:00.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Programming and Social Media Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning, marketing, conducting, and facilitating programs for all adults. Foster deeper connections and engagement with the adult patrons by managing all programming, art exhibits, museum pass program and adult social media for the library. Provide information services to the community by facilitating access to library resources including circulating materials; assisting patrons; answering questions and organizing materials. This position reports to the Director.
Create and implement a regular schedule of adult educational and entertaining programs and events that meet the Mission and Vision of the Library.
Create, oversee and manage all communication and marketing materials using appropriate tactics and mediums to best inform and engage target audiences.
Maintain Museum Membership/Pass Program.
Maintain Art Display Schedule for library meeting room.
Liaison to the Friends of the Library and attend their meetings.
Perform all circulation functions.
Knowledge and level of competency associated with some college. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the job, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
Passion for library programs and inspired by reading and learning. Excellent customer service attitude. Highly organized individual able to manage and execute multiple projects at once. Marketing skills and use of social media. Engage community partners, customers and staff in promotion of the library. Excellent writing and communication skills. Excellent computer skills and ability to adapt to new software programs. Comfortable speaking in front of an event audience. Ability to design and create print and online media publicity (i.e. signs, social media, brochures, etc.) Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, patrons and volunteers. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes day, night and weekend hours as well as the ability to provide coverage for other shifts when available. Skill in the use of software such as Microsoft Word, Google, etc. and the ability to multitask.
