About the Friends

Volunteers
The Friends of the Hampstead Public Library are continually seeking volunteers to join one of our committees or simply attend our meetings to listen or contribute creative fund raising and marketing ideas. To join, pick up a Friends Membership form at the front desk of the library or print out and mail Membership Form found at the bottom of this page.

Membership
If you use the library but haven't yet joined the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library, please think about doing so. It's only $5 per year for an individual membership although there are also other categories that cost more and therefore benefit the library more. Brochures with membership forms are available at the front desk of the library or download a membership form. (See below.)  You can also stay abreast of our activities by "liking” the Friends on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/friendshampsteadpubliclibrary).

Mission

The Friends of the Hampstead Public Library is an organization whose goal is to provide support for the library and its many activities while having fun at the same time. Memberships start at $5 and are open to anyone who has an interest in our library. Remember, all contributions are tax deductible and you can choose which level of financial commitment to make!  See the attached file below for the printable membership form.

The second Tuesday of each month, September through April, at 7 PM, the Friends sponsor an evening program that is free and open to the general public*. These programs can be entertaining, informational or instructional (or all three at once). In the past, we've had impersonators, singers, authors, and dancers, as well as demonstrations on cooking and flower arranging, to name just a few.  Each May, the Friends host a Pot Luck Dinner where everyone is invited to bring a dish to share and members vote in officers for the upcoming season.  (*note program schedule is subject to change due to COVID restrictions, or weather challenges.)

The Elaine David Thrift Shop's purpose is to raise money to support the Library. Funds raised from this shop help support the Library in various ways, such as museum passes, the Summer Reading Program, and materials and equipment needed by the Library but not covered by the budget.  See more about our Fundraising.
