Libby by Overdrive
The New Hampshire Downloadable Book Consortium provides access to thousands of eBooks, Audiobooks, & select magazines through their Overdrive website and Libby mobile app.
Borrower information:
Loans: 3 items at a time. Magazines do not count towards your 3 item limit.
Loan period: 7 or 14 days. This is adjustable in your account settings.
Holds: 5 items maximum
Hoopla
Hoopla Digital provides access to thousands of Movies, TV Shows, eBooks, Audiobooks, Music, & Comics. Hoopla works in your browser, or using their mobile app.
Register for a hoopla account by visiting hoopladigital.com, or by downloading the mobile app.
Borrowed titles will be automatically returned when your lending period is over. There are no holds, waiting lists, or late fees for any of hoopla’s content. You may borrow 4 items per month.
Loan periods:
ebooks: 3 weeks
Audiobooks: 3 weeks
Movies & TV series: 3 days
Music: 7 days
Some things to know about Hoopla:
Unlike physical library materials, Hoopla operates on a cost-per-borrow model. The library pays a fee each time an item is checked out. Audiobooks, which are the most popular format at HPL, are also the most expensive. Due to this pricing structure, Hoopla costs are unpredictable and hard to budget for.
To help keep costs down it is preferred that you borrow items when you’re ready for them rather than potentially borrowing an item that goes unused.
You can use the Hoopla Favorites button as a “to be read/watched/listened to” list.
Check Libby first for the title you’re looking for. We prefer that if an item is available on both services, you borrow from Libby. While there may be wait times due to limited copies, Libby’s pricing structure is more budget-friendly for the library. In addition to eBooks and audiobooks, Libby also offers magazines that don’t count against your Libby concurrent checkout limit.
Use Hoopla’s Bingepasses or Season Passes: These items count as only one checkout, but provide access to a large amount of content, allowing you to enjoy multiple titles while using up fewer checkouts.
